18 Years Old. Gauthier Classic 3rd place, OCB 45th Parallel 2nd place
(teen men).
1. How did you get started in Bodybuilding?
When I was fourteen (2004), my best bud Ryan
Gonda asked me to come to the gym with him. I got hooked and decided
I would rather Bodybuild than play Football. I got my first personal
training certification at fifteen years old and my second
certification (AFAA) at sixteen years old. During this time I had
competed in my first local bodybuilding show. I would go on to do
two more by age eighteen.
2. What is your training philosophy?
Nail your diet. Keep track of everything even
in off-season, otherwise you will have no quantifiable data to help
you conclude why you are or arent making gains. Finding the fine
line between being a hermit and a party animal is essential for a
bodybuilder's mindset/progress.
3. What is your diet like?
I eat 5 meals per day and supplement with
BCAA's between meals. I eat 250g protein, 500g carbs, and 65g
fat/day. Layne Norton's scientific expertise helped me in this
regard. I rarely do "cheat" meals in off-season; once per month
tops. I eat the same thing every day, I am very militaristic about
my eating schedule.
4. Who are your role models?
My best bud who took me to the gym when we
were younger went on to win the NPC Teen Junior Michigan and place
5th in an adult division without the use of steroids. He has been an
awesome friend who has always had my back and who continues to help
me understand where things fall in the big picture, being that he is
2 years older than me.
5. What advice would you give to new athletes?
Research. Dont settle for simple answers when
you have questions. Ask as many people as possible (preferably
doctors), and then try to come up with your own conclusions. One
thing to always remember is that you WILL build mass if you eat 5
large meals/day, Sleep 8 hours each night, and lift weights 1-2
hours per day.
